The Perfect Hair-care Routine In Winter

During the winter season, our skin & hair are a bit harder to nourish than they are during summer. If you live somewhere where it can drop below 30 degrees Fahrenheit, you know the struggle. Hair breakage is more than likely to happen during these colder months. If you want to prevent this from happening, consider looking into these top 5 tips & tricks.

Top 5 Steps For Your Hair

Don't Shampoo Too Often

Our scalp is way more sensitive & dry in the winter. We can cause severe itching as well as flaking off the scalp if we over-shampoo. Try to shampoo your hair every 4-5 days (once a week would be ideal). Also, try to use the right shampoo for your hair type & your scalp's sensitivity.

Moisture Is Key

Dry air means that your hair texture will change & that you will lose a lot of moisture. There is not a lot of moisture in the indoor air, and our heaters can ruin our hair sensitivity and texture. Remember to use a lot of hydrating, nourishing & moisture locking products since these need to stay on top of your strands for at least 4 days.

Use A Leave In Conditioner

A leave in conditioner is a must-have during winter. Not only women but men as well should consider adding this product to their routine. Use a leave-in conditioner and ''leave it in'' for 30 minutes. Make sure it penetrates deep into your strands before you rinse it out.

PS: Use lukewarm water. Water that is boiling hot can ruin your scalp's sensitivity, while cold water can dry out your strands & cause your ends to break.

Stop Using High Heat

Often hair ironing, curling, as well as blow drying will cause your ends to split. Try to prevent this from happening by staying away from high-heat. If you must, at least add a high-quality & well-trusted heat protectant spray on top of your strands. Also, you can let your hair air dry if it is relatively warm in your apartment.

Never Go Outside With Damp Hair

Dry your hair before you head out into the cold. If your hair cuticles are open & wet, there's a considerable chance that they will break. Anything cold will expand. This means that you can experience breakage sooner than ever, but your hair color will also fade a lot faster.
