Fall Winter 2018 Hair Color Trends

Our favorite thing to do when the seasons change is to change our hair color accordingly. Every year as the weather cools, we see hair colors go darker and richer. For Fall and Winter 2018 we’re anticipating the following shifts in hair color trends:

  • From all-over bright blonde highlights to deep golden blondes

  • From caramel balayage to dark chocolate balayage

  • From natural reds and strawberry blondes to vivid fire reds

  • From pastel hair colors to rich jewel tone

DEEP GOLDEN BLONDE

While we love all-over, bright blonde highlights, balayage, and foilayage as much as the next beachy babe, we’re loving the deep golden blonde highlights to warm up our fall and winter looks. Ask your hairstylist for neutral-to-warm golden and buttery highlights to recreate this look for yourself.

DARK CHOCOLATE BALAYAGE

If you usually sport a caramel or blonde balayage in the summer, ask our hair colorist to help you transition into a gentler hair color regimen for fall and winter. You can have your hair toned down to recreate these rich, dark chocolate brunette locks. Or if you have dark virgin hair, ask your colorist to create slight dimension toward the ends. We love the depth and shine created from the effect of slight contrast in the root and end hair color.

VIVID FIRE RED

There are so many ways to rock red hair - from a natural ginger to strawberry blonde to auburn. To keep your red hair from reading too “festival season,” opt for pure neutral red tones rather than anything on the maroon red on one end or neon red on the other.

DEEP JEWEL TONES

Rainbow colors are definitely having a moment. Give your hair a break from the endless bleach and tones and highlights necessary to maintain pastel locks, and opt for a rich jewel tone like this gorgeous navy blue. Darker fantasy hair colors are a great way to transition bleach-damaged hair into a lower maintenance balayage color, so you can grow it out in time for next year’s hair color adventures.

Take advantage of the shifting energy of the changing seasons to update your hair color. We recommend choosing deeper, richer colors for cooler weather to give your hair a chance to recover from the stress of bright summer hair looks. Hair colorists love visual references, so make sure to bring your favorite color inspiration pictures to your autumn hair color consultation!
